In this role, Neil will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of SHAPE’s Air & Gas business. The Air & Gas industry in New Zealand is a rapidly growing sector that is focused on providing sustainable solutions for power generation and other industrial applications. The use of Nitrogen over CO2 has been a major focus of SHAPE as New Zealand faces ongoing CO2 supply shortages. Additionally, the swap aids in New Zealand’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050 by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. SHAPE with the invaluable help of Neil Beeslaar can play a key role in achieving this goal by providing sustainable solutions like Nitrogen to the Air & Gas industry. Solutions like Nitroblok from SHAPE Energy can reduce the environmental impact of industrial activities.
Neil’s background in the compressed air industry, combined with his leadership experience, will be a valuable asset to the SHAPE team. He is excited to take advantage of the diversity of knowledge across the business and learn from the best of the best. Being new to the team, he can see how he can grow professionally and is looking forward to learning from the vast commercial and leadership experience of the SHAPE team.

Starting with a Tertiary qualification in Sales and Marketing from The University of Vaal Triangle Neil brings more than 20 years of experience working within the compressed air industry. Neil has held a variety of roles, since starting at CompAir South Africa in 1997, including Sales Trainee at Stewarts and Lloyds, and General Manager at AberGas. He remains a salesperson at heart and has always enjoyed roles where he retains customer relationships.
In his free time, Neil loves listening to audiobooks, playing poker with close friends, and fancying himself an amateur darts player. One of his personal achievements is raising two wonderful children and seeing them flourish in New Zealand.
One of the things that Neil is most looking forward to as part of the SHAPE team is going back to basics, with a focus on delivering results and achieving common goals. Neil also emphasises a focus on ensuring the well-being of all personnel in the branch – “Safety is not just a luxury but a necessity, and Neil is committed to making it a top priority.”
Not only is Neil joining SHAPE but STILL Group as a whole. STILL is able to give back to the community and contribute to the economy at the same time. He is motivated by the ability to assist others to be successful and deliver a common goal.

The compressed air and gas industry will have to introduce new technology, improve efficiency, and lower operational costs for the country to meet CO₂ reduction targets. Heat recovery will become more prevalent as we get closer to achieving these goals.
The current high cost of capital will depress market growth and reduced operational cost combined with reliability will be our focus this year.”
