Hasan joined SHAPE Energy on the 20th of June 2023 as our new Engineering Services Manager.
Overseeing our existing engineering teams across both SHAPE Energy and Dependable Power. He will be managing all design service works, people, operations and deliverables.
Hasan was born in the UK, lived most of his life in Egypt and later moved to New Zealand in August of 1996 with his wife and 3 children. 26 years later he embarks on his journey with SHAPE, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience from within the energy and engineering sector since 1981.
Hasan has a bachelor’s degree from Ain Shams University, Faculty of Engineering in both Electrical Engineering and Computer & Automatic Control Section. From the same university, he also went on to do a Postgraduate Diploma in Electronics & Computer Engineering. He studied computers and engineering but somehow ended up working in power. He says that computers and electrical controls in this day and age are very similar.
His professional journey in New Zealand started at Cummins in 1997 where he was their Power Generation Manager.
In 2009 he joined Appleby Engineering which we all now know as Dependable Power. He was responsible for tenders, technical support and project management to mention only a few. Subsequently he started AHR Consultants where he became a Power Generation Consultant.
In his spare time, he enjoys a healthy active lifestyle. Boxing was a huge love of his at university which he still tries to keep up with. “When I’m too lazy to go to the gym, I use the punching bag at home to keep myself moving. Doing something that keeps you alive!” He also enjoys football/soccer but these days it’s just for watching.
Hasan is also a real food lover. He was recently approached by an international food magazine and will be showcased in their July issue.
He currently runs his own Instagram cooking page called @theegyptianchef, where he engages with his audience by supplying healthy recipes and lifestyle ideas. As he put it, it is the heathy way of making Mediterranean style dishes.
His personal goals are to keep himself and his family happy. He also firmly believes, “do what you love, and you’ll stick to it!”
